Devastated by hordes of Visigoths, Ostrogoths and Sarrasins, the domaine
de la Gayolle chapel was rebuilt in 1058 by monks of Saint-Victor.
Today, the remains of Syagria, parent of Enodius can be found in a sarcophagus
in the chapel.
The origins of the chapel as well as the sarcophagi are believed to date
back to the Visigoths century, from the roman Constantine period, from
which the chapel "Gaziola" draws tis name.
The sarcophagi are believed to date back to Enodius Magnus Felix, a civil
administrator who would have chosen this area to establish his villa away
from the fast paced Roman life, as well as along the Sainte-Beaume river.
